German Ale / Kolsch Yeast - WLP 029
WLP029 German Kolsch Yeast is quite sensitive to fermentation temperature fluctuations and has a rather narrow range of optimal working temperature between 65-69F (17-20C), so it may be a bit demanding in technical terms. But when used correctly, WLP029 produces some of the cleanest beers an ale yeast can deliver, often comparable in clarity and flavour to the finest lager beers.
It is a great east for making a broad range of beer styles, from American Amber to Barleywine or Imperial Stout, since WLP029 produces a very neutral character that lends the spotlight to specialty malts and hops in terms of flavour.
